if I knew then what I know now…

If I could go back and talk with the person I was back then, this is what I would say:

  1. Have faith. Be patient with the process. You are stronger than you know and this challenge is only going to make you even stronger. Everything happens for a reason. Surrender what you think is best and trust that you will be guided to an even better future than you could ever imagine for yourself. It will all work out in the end, just hang in there!

  2. Self care isn’t selfish. Make time each day to do something for you. Go for a walk, write in your journal, read a good book, turn the music up and sing your favorite song, spend time in nature, meditate… find a way to clear your mind and decompress. Focus on making small daily habits part of your routine and that will create a difference in your overall well-being one step at a time.

  3. Let go of the things you can’t control. There will be times when you feel helpless in your situation but don’t let that get the best of you. Feel those negative emotions and let yourself be mad- just move through those doubts and fears instead of staying stagnant in them. Overcome those challenges by shifting your perspective. Find things to be grateful for and focus on that instead! Reprogram your thought process to automatically look on the bright side- it takes practice but it will be worth it!

Even when things seem like they couldn’t get any worse, remember that you are here for a reason. You are exactly where you need to be and one day you’ll look back and understand how this challenge has made you into the person you were always meant to be.
